Hiking in the Grand Tetons of Wyoming
This weeks’ reader photos take you hiking in the beautiful country of the Grand Tetons in Wyoming – thanks to Gillian of One Giant Step.
Gillian is one of the handful of travel bloggers I have actually met. She’s as lovely in real life as she is online. I highly recommend checking her out on Twitter and Facebook too.
I hope you’re as inspired by these photos of her hike as I was.

In the valley below Death Canyon Shelf

Making our way up the valley to climb up to the shelf

The money shot; the Grand Teton in all her glory

One last look at the mountains before heading out
I’d love to hike in this area. How about you? Have you ever been hiking in the Grand Tetons of Wyoming?

Thanks Leigh, for letting me relive such an amazing trip. It was my first back country hiking/camping trip and it was better than I could ever have imagined!

@Gillian Thanks so much for putting those photos together. They really are inspiring.
Beautiful photos of what appears to have been an incredible trip!

@Jackie I think Gillian must have lucked out with the weather. It is notoriously fickle in that part of the world.
We briefly visited the Grand Teton National Park but after seeing these beautiful photos, I feel inspired to go back and do a little bit of hiking. This is a gorgeous part of the country that is often overshadowed by Yellowstone nearby.

@Mary I think you’re right. So many people barely give the Grand Tetons more than a passing glance. I have a friend who lives in Jackson Hole so I hear regularly just how wonderful the hiking is.
Grand Teton National Park is so underrated, and the only reason is that Yellowstone is just to the north of it. There probably aren’t a more fetching set of mountains anywhere!

@Erik Your description alone makes me want to investigate further.
Beautiful shots, yes I think you lucked out with the weather. I’m almost ashamed to admit as an avid hiker that I’ve been to the Tetons twice but never got “into” them for an actual hike. Next time for sure!
