Ticket Giveaway for Calgary’s Travel & Outdoor Adventure Show

Do you need some adventure inspiration? Or do you have kids that want to try out a kayak in an indoor super-sized Whitewater Demo Pool? Perhaps you’d like to take advantage of a photography workshop. Or listen to ultra runner, Simon Donato of Boundless speak.

You can do all of that this weekend (March 22 and 23) in Calgary at the annual Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show at Stampede Park, BMO Centre.

I have been going to the show for years – both in Vancouver and in Calgary and I always hear of some new adventure, lodge or area that I’d like to visit.

Because of the show I have been whitewater rafting on the Kicking Horse River near Golden. I have visited Laidman Lake Lodge in the remote BC interior. And this summer I will be canoeing the Churchill River with Churchill River Canoe Outfitters, a group I first met at the Calgary show a few years ago.

You can get a load of useful information at the show as well. Planning a camping trip this summer? There are loads of tents, sleeping bags, cookware, camp furniture, first aid, cookware and guidebooks for sale so you could in theory make this place your one stop shopping store. And the prices this weekend tend to be very good.

Photography workshops put on by Calgary’s Camera Store include Wildlife Photography Basics, Landscape Photography: Near & Far; Outdoor Videography and Capturing Alberta. The first session starts at 11:15 AM both days.

There is also a health and fitness session – with plenty of free samples, a scavenger hunt for kids (this is definitely a kid friendly show), a SUP (stand up paddleboarding) pavilion with gear and advice to get you started, a running and triathalon pavilion with seminars and lots of information on nutrition, running techniques and upcoming events.

My favourite thing to do is just to wander around all the travel booths and see what catches my fancy. Chances are high if I enter a contest I might even win a trip somewhere.

If you have a couple of hours to spare this weekend why not head down for some travel and adventure inspiration. To sweeten the pot I have six tickets up for grabs. Leave a comment by 9 AM tomorrow morning (March 19th) on either this blog post or on my Facebook page to be eligible to win.
